Provide Input on the Durham Regional Official Plan Review

Light pollution is an environmental issue, and the Region is reviewing its environmental policies as contained in the Regional Official Plan. More information on the review is available at the Region’s web site.

Update - Regional Official Plan - Update
Your input required by November 28, 2003

Due to written submissions received by the Region Planning Department (including those from LPAC members), Light Pollution has been included in the Environmental Discussion Paper which is circulating to the public for comment. This is an important step, and pressure must be kept to ensure that some form of Light Pollution policy makes it into the Official Plan.  Read the extracts (34k PDF) from the Environmental Discussion Paper that references light pollution, and provide your input (by November 28, 2003) to the Regional Planning Department to show your support (see below).

By writing in to the Durham Region Planning Department, you can provide valuable input to the Plan review.  Here is a semi-structured letter you can adapt to your needs. If you need more help in composing a letter, the National Wildlife Federation provides good tips for writing to your government.
