The Association holds regular monthly meetings indoors. These meetings are open to the public, and are free of charge. The meetings do not focus on visual observing although, there may be lectures on such an activity. The meetings are to bring different aspects of astronomy to the community, since there is more to the activities than simply looking through a telescope. The topics of the meetings range from bringing in professional astronomers to present their research materials, to members of the Association demonstrating the techniques and equipment they use for observing. Meeting topics generally reflect the diverse levels of experience held by members within the Association, and provide presentations on astronomy topics that appeal to the general public as well. Most meetings offer information that meets the interest of all levels - there is something for everyone!
Meetings are held from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on the second Wednesday of the month, from September through June at:
Whitby Library Meeting Room 1 A/B 405 Dundas Street West Whitby, Ontario
If there are any topics you would like The Durham Region Astronomical Association to cover at one of its meetings, please feel free to let us know.
